edinburgh camera obscura
First built in 1873 as an outlook tower, it has been converted into a huge 'camera' where images are projected onto a viewing table below using lenses and mirrors, allowing you to watch what's happening all over the city at that moment.
Camera Obscura is the perfect way to people spot and to get a feel for the layout of the city. There is also an accompanying exhibition of photography and holography, and you can visit the wonders of light and illusion in the 'magic' gallery.
