Edinburgh airport plane spotting
Until concerns about security 'forced' BAA to close it, Edinburgh Airport had one of the finest plane spotting galleries (or spectator terrace) in the country. This is a recurring theme up and down the country.
There are a number of alternative areas for plane spotting at edinburgh airport, but the best (and most popular) is the nearby car parks at Ingliston Market. This is a huge open air area adjacent to the perimeter fence west of the terminal, outside of airport security - so you shouldn't be moved on as you would be at the airport's car parks (a popular spot at other airports).
For Ingliston Market follow the signs to the Quality Inn Hotel and the Royal Highland Showground. You get excellent views of the planes, the airport and of the runway at this spot.
Another popular spot, although not as good, is at Lennymuir Road, Turnhouse. Follow the signs from the A8 to the Cargo Centre.
There are no 'facilities' as such at either of these places for plane spotting at edinburgh airport, so you will need to take your own refreshments with you.
