Edinburgh airport parking

There are 2000 short term parking spaces and 9,960 long term parking spaces at the airport. In addition, there are a number of 'off airport' car parks (slightly further from the airport, but offering cheaper prices) plus you can book 'meet and greet' airport parking.

Cheapest airport parking: For an edinburgh airport parking price comparison service - where you enter your dates once and compare the cost of parking at 5 airport parking companies - we recommend visiting the edinburgh airport parking page of 1stairportparking.co.uk. Click on the link, then on 'click here to go to the one click quotes page'. You will also find price comparison tables, including on and off airport parking, on this page.

Short term airport parking: Short stay car parking is recommended for stays of up to five hours (and is very expensive for stays of more than 24 hours). A new multi-storey short term airport car park, with 2000 spaces, opened in late 2004. Payment should be made at the automatic machines within or next to the terminal building, before returning to your vehicle.

Short term parking tariff (as at Summer 2008, and subject to change):

0 - 15 minutes: £1.50
15 - 30 minutes: £2.10
30 minutes - 1 hour: £3.90
1 - 2 hours: £5.50
2 - 4 hours: £6.90
4 - 12 hours: £11.90
12 - 24 hours: £14.90

‘Pick up / 2 hours max’ car park: in addition to the short term airport car park, Edinburgh has a dedicated car park with its own dedicated entry and exit (and higher prices) for this in a hurry. Its tariff (as at Summer 2008, and subject to change):

0 - 15 minutes: £1.50
15 - 30 minutes: £2.10
30 minutes - 1 hour: £3.90
1 - 2 hours: £5.50
2 - 3 hours: £6.90
3 - 12 hours: £25
12 - 24 hours: £29.80
Price per 24 hours or part thereof: £29.80

Long term car park: there are two on airport long term car parks, which are further away from the terminal than the short term multi-storey car park, so you will need a bus to reach the terminal. The shuttle buses run every ten minutes with a journey time of less than five minutes. The rates are comparatively low, but more expensive than off airport parking, and they do go up during the summer months.

During the summer months in particular you need to pre-book, as the car park is often sold out. To compare the prices of all edinburgh airport car parks, including on and off airport parking, at this edinburgh airport parking page (you can book spaces at the on airport long term car park via this website too).

Find out more about the on airport long term car parks - the Meteor car park and the NCP Scotpark by clicking on these links.

Off airport parking: for stays of a weekend or longer (and certainly for a week or two week holiday) it is always cheaper to book 'off airport' parking. The only slight downside is that transfer time to and from the airport is slightly longer (10 - 15 minutes, rather than 5 - 10 minutes for on airport parking), but for a saving of up to 40%, and sometimes more, we think it's worth it.

There are three off airport car parks are Park and Fly, Flying Scot and Secure Air Parks (click on the links to find out more). To compare the prices of 4 airport parking suppliers (Holiday Extras, APH, BCP, FHR) try this edinburgh airport parking page. You enter your dates once, and compare the cost of parking across all 5 suppliers, to make sure that you get the best price.

Meet and Greet: with meet and greet airport parking you drive to the airport terminal, where you are met by a driver. The driver takes your car and parks it for you. On your return you are met by a drive with car at the airport terminal, so that you can make a speedy exit and be on your way.

Often used by business travelers, it is also great for those travelling with the young, old or disabled. It is expensive for short trips, but for stays of a week or more, it isn't very much more expensive than on airport parking. For more information on edinburgh airport meet and greet parking click on the link.

Disabled parking: There are reserved spaces for drivers with disability ID in the airport's short-term car park.

If you would like to book off airport parking, both Airparks and APH offer assistance to disabled customers and their buses are designed to provide wheelchair access.

Motorbike parking: is available at the airport.

Bicycle parking: a courtesy cycle parking rack and shelter is located in front of the international arrivals entrance to the terminal, across the forecourt road.
