Beauty queen attacks drop off fee
29.08.10
The debate on Edinburgh Airport's planned drop off fee continues to fester, with Miss Edinburgh the latest to register an objection. Fiona Dickie has joined forces with Lothians MSP Gavin Brown to protest against the introduction of a £1 charge for those who use the drop-off car park at the hub, Travel Weekly reports.
The airport announced in July that it would impose the £1 fee from October but stressed that people could still drop off passengers for free in an area near the Hilton airport hotel, with a free shuttle to the terminal.
Ms Dickie, who previously worked at a Thomas Cook travel agency, told the newspaper: ‘The travel industry has faced some of the toughest challenges imaginable this year with the recession, ash cloud, strikes and company failures. The last thing we need is another hurdle to overcome.'
