Superjumbo airport flypasts
29.08.09
Plane spotters are in for a treat next weekend, as the world’s largest passenger plane, the 525-seat Airbus A380, will make a flying visit over a number of airports, an airshow and its Broughton plant in Flintshire, where the plane's wings are made.
The giant aircraft will make its first visits to Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as being seen in England and Wales, next Saturday. It will first fly over Edinburgh and Prestwick airports, then the Northern Ireland International Airshow at Portrush, Belfast City Airport, its Broughton factory and finally Birmingham airport.
The plane will not land at any of the locations, but will perform an approach-and-go manoeuvre - it will come in as it would to land, but depart before actually touching down.
