Alert over plane smoke
26.01.08
There was an alert at Edinburgh Airport yesterday over a suspected fire in the engine of a Boeing 737.
Concerns were raised when smoke was seen coming from the engine of a plane that had landed at the airport. Lothian and Borders fire and rescue sent one fire engine to attend the plane but it was not required when it arrived.
A spokesman for Edinburgh Airport said that high winds at the time may have led to exhaust fumes being blown back into the engine, making it look like it was on fire.
