Drop off fee campaign continues
25.07.10
Cab drivers have taken the campaign against the Edinburgh Airport drop-off charge to the Scottish Parliament, the Scotsman reports. The airport plans to introduce a £1 fee in October for anyone dropping off or picking up passengers outside the terminal. The plan has been met with vocal opposition, which now includes the city's black cab drivers along with all of the main political parties.
Cabbies set off for Holyrood yesterday to deliver a petition calling on airport operator BAA to reverse the plans. Among those taking part was cabbie George Pendreigh, who told the newspaper: ‘The charge is just a rip-off - it's money for nothing. I hope they change their minds. The opposition is growing.’
