Police checks for motorists near the airport today

The Police are carrying out a vehicle checks on the main Edinburgh Airport approach road today. Between 11:00 and 14:00, officers from the airport, road policing and road safety units will stop cars at random to check roadworthiness. As part of the checks, drivers will be asked to produce their driving documents.
A police spokesman said: ‘The aim of this exercise is to remind motorists of the importance of keeping their vehicles roadworthy and safe. We're hoping it will act as a warning to all drivers that anyone using an unsafe vehicle is likely to be stopped and charged. We appreciate this operation may cause delay for some motorists, and would ask all drivers to be patient.’
