BAA asks airlines to refuel outside Scotland
23.04.08
Airlines have been asked not to refuel their planes at BAA's Scottish airports and instead do so outside Scotland ahead of an oil plant strike. BAA made the advisory call to airlines operating at its three airports - Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh Airport - yesterday.
Workers at Grangemouth are to strike from Sunday over plans to end the final salary pension scheme for new recruits. The company has begun shutting down the refinery, which processes up to 210,000 barrels of oil a day. A BAA spokesman said the airports operator had decided to issue the advisory notice as a precaution.
