UK airport owners interested in Edinburgh
22.10.11
The sale of Edinburgh Airport is attracting interest from Gatwick and London City airport owner Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) and from Manchester Airports Group (MAG), Bloomberg reports. It says 'GIP knows Edinburgh well and is interested in a purchase'. A spokesman for MAG said that it will 'look at an acquisition that would deliver investor value'.
In addition to the two UK airport operators, overseas companies are also reported to be interested. These include Aeroports de Paris, the operator of Paris Charles de Gaulle, Europe’s busiest airport after Heathrow. Fraport AG, owner of Frankfurt airport, Europe's third biggest, also wants to add to its portfolio, 'a person familiar with the company' told Bloomberg.
