Souter planning airport bid
21.11.11
The founder of transport company Stagecoach is planning to bid for Edinburgh Airport, the Times reports. Sir Brian Souter, who was at Buckingham Palace on Friday to collect his knighthood, is considering the offer through his buyout vehicle Souter Investments.
Sir Brian, who is still chief executive of the Perth-based business he founded in 1980, is waiting for more detailed information about the airport and its finances before bidding, with an offer likely to be made as part of a group. He will face competition from the owner of Charles de Gaulle airport, the owner of Gatwick and London City airports, a number of private equity firms, and several Scottish consortiums, also reported to be planning to bid.
