Airport bollards to be used in homecoming advert
19.04.09
Concrete bollards installed to stop a terrorist attack on Edinburgh Airport are to be used to advertise one of the biggest events of this year's Homecoming celebrations, the Scotsman reports. The 12 concrete blocks set around the airport's terminal building will be covered with wooden ‘shrouds’, under plans submitted to the city council by the airport.
The shrouds will feature prominent adverts for The Gathering, an event being held in Edinburgh as part of the Year of Homecoming. Up to 10,000 members of Scotland's clans from around the world will parade through Holyrood Park at the event on July 25 and 26, before gathering for a ‘kirking’ ceremony next to the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
