Kevin Brown, currently the managing director of Aberdeen and Southampton airports, is move to take the top job at Edinburgh Airport from the end of July. The appointment follows last month's announcement that Gordon Dewar is to leave after securing the job of chief executive at Bahrain Airport.
A spokesman for BAA said: ‘We are sorry that Gordon is going, but delighted that we can name his replacement from within the company. Gordon leaves Edinburgh Airport in a strong position, but Kevin takes the reins at a time of huge challenges for our industry. We are confident that he will lead this vital part of Scotland's economy into its next stage of development and success.’
Mr Brown joined BAA in October 2002. He held positions at both Heathrow and Aberdeen Airport before he was appointed managing director at Aberdeen in 2007. In 2008, he was appointed managing director of both Aberdeen and Southampton airports. He said one of his main objectives in his new job would be to improve the number of direct flights from Edinburgh.
