Bomb threat man fined
17.05.10
A man who threatened to bomb Edinburgh Airport after a row at a car rental office when his card was declined has been fined £300. Andrew Purdy, 47, made the threat after a row at the Hertz office in Picardy Place.
A court heard on Friday that Mr Purdy had booked a car via the internet, but there was a problem with his credit card when he went to take delivery of the vehicle. He demanded a refund of his deposit, and when told that it would be sent to his bank account he became upset and before leaving said: ‘Tell your manager there will be a bomb at the airport tonight and people will be killed’. He was found guilty of breaching the peace.
