Hotels and restaurants answer airports call to help stranded passengers
17.04.10
Edinburgh Airport managers have been ‘overwhelmed’ by the generosity shown to passengers stranded after flights were grounded this week by the volcanic ash cloud, the Scotsman reports. Thousands of travellers have been stranded in the Capital, but hotels and restaurants across the city have responded by offering cut-price rooms, food and drink offers and discounted entertainment.
Gordon Dewar, Edinburgh Airport's managing director, said: ‘We hare overwhelmed by the generosity of spirit shown by the people of Edinburgh helping passengers stranded by these unprecedented flight problems. When we put out the call for help, we did not think the response would be so quick or so generous. They have demonstrated the warmth that makes Edinburgh one of the world's leading cities.’
