BAA Scottish airports grow
12.04.11
All three of BAA's Scottish airports reported higher passenger figures last month compared to a year earlier. Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen airports collectively enjoyed a 5.8% rise in passengers, with the figures helped by strong comparisons against March 2010, when passenger figures were hit by BA cabin crew strikes.
Aberdeen saw the biggest increase, up 8.6% to 250,200. Edinburgh enjoyed a 7.2% rise to 720,000, while Glasgow's growth was 2.4%, to 485,200. Edinburgh Airport set a record for March last month, boosted by a number of new routes. Traffic on European schedule flights was up 20.8% compared with March 2010.
However, passengers for the year to March across the three Scottish airports remain down, by 4.7%, compared to the previous 12 month period.
