Flyglobespan Algarve flights to stop off in Glasgow
12.01.08
Passengers flying with Edinburgh based budget airline Flyglobespan are facing travel disruption after flights bound for Faro on Portugal's Algarve from Edinburgh Airport have been told their flight will stop off at Glasgow en route. The news is a further blow to passengers from Aberdeen, forced to take flights from Edinburgh after the airline axed the route from Aberdeen Airport late last year.
The Sunday and Thursday flights will leave Edinburgh, flying about 40 miles to Glasgow Airport, where the plane will wait for 45 minutes before taking to the air again to fly to Portugal.
However, a spokesman for Flyglobespan defended the move. He said: 'Rather than disrupting passengers by cancelling this service from Edinburgh, we are continuing to operate the Sunday and Thursday flights, with a short stop of approximately 45 minutes in Glasgow.'
'We will, of course, be pleased to accommodate passengers who had booked to fly from Edinburgh but would find it more convenient to travel from Glasgow. Normal direct services from Edinburgh to Faro are to resume after February 28, and scheduled flights from Glasgow are unaffected.'
