Ryanair add routes; increase flights
11.02.10
Ryanair is to add three new routes from Edinburgh Airport, including Scotland's first direct link to Morocco with flights to Marrakech, plus new services to Paris and Faro in Portugal. The budget airline will also increase the frequency of flights on six other routes.
Edinburgh Airport director Gordon Dewar said the new routes made the city ‘better connected than ever’. He said: ‘We are delighted that Ryanair has chosen Edinburgh for its latest expansion. It is also pleasing that we have managed to replace some of the seats lost with the collapse of Flyglobespan late last year.’
The changes will take effect from May and Ryanair's traffic at Edinburgh Airport is expected to grow to around 2.5m passengers a year. The new services will increase the its destinations from Edinburgh to 39, with 6 planes based at the airport this summer. The announcement came a day after Ryanair announced a new route between Edinburgh and Kaunus in Lithuania.
