Another Scot preparing airport bid
09.11.11
Scottish merchant banker Sir Angus Grossart is putting together a consortium of financial institutions north of the Border to bid for Edinburgh Airport, the Herald reports. US private equity company Carlyle are also forming a consortium that will include Scottish investors, and there is at least one other Scottish group working to form a consortium to bid for the airport, all before the sale prospectus is issued.
The Herald reports that Sir Angus, owner of Edinburgh-based merchant bank Noble Grossart, has been working on forming a consortium bid for Edinburgh or Glasgow Airport for more than two years, and has already recruited 'airport management specialists', which we assume means either a management team or a company that already owns / operates airports.
Other bidders are likely to include Manchester Airports Group, Gatwick and London City airport owner GIP, and foreign airport owners including from Canada, France and Germany.
