Baggage handlers launch 'lighten up' campaign
08.11.08
Passengers at Edinburgh Airport are being urged to pack less luggage. The Unite union, which represents baggage handlers at the airport, says that carrying overweight bags puts airport staff at risk of injury, as well as being bad for the environment and costing passengers more in excess baggage charges.
The union's Steve Turner said: ‘A bag can be lifted up to a dozen times on a journey.’ Unite's 'Lighten Up' campaign will be launched at the airport tomorrow.
