Blue1 announce Helsinki flights
05.09.10
Edinburgh Airport has gained a new route to the Finnish Capital of Helsinki, a first for Scotland. It is the 25th new destination added at Edinburgh so far this year, brings the number of routes from the airport to 125 and means it is number one in UK airport outside London in terms of links to Scandinavia.
The twice weekly service between Edinburgh and Helsinki will be operated by Finnish airline Blue1 from April next year. It takes Edinburgh's Scandinavia routes up to eight. Kevin Brown, managing director of the airport, said: ‘This is a significant development for the airport and also for Edinburgh itself. It will be a predominantly an inbound route, and shows the continuing strength of Edinburgh as a destination.’
