Police issue laser warning
03.11.08
Police have issued a warning to people shining green lasers at aircraft landing in Edinburgh Airport after the seventh incident in recent months. A bmi flight from Heathrow was landing at the airport on Saturday at 19:45 when the laser was beamed into its cockpit.
A Lothian & Borders Police spokesman said: ‘Shining a laser into the cockpit of a plane is not only irresponsible, but dangerous. Anyone found to be responsible for these acts will be reported to the procurator fiscal.’
The plane was passing over the city's Straiton area at 4000ft when the incident happened. It is thought the laser was shone from the Loanhead area. None of the other incidents involved a laser from this area.
