Airport expansion could boost economy by £867m
02.09.09
Expansion plans that could see 26m passengers passing through Edinburgh Airport by 2030 would support 16,000 jobs and provide an annual boost of £867m for the Scottish economy, a report by Scottish Enterprise and airport owner BAA found.
The report suggests the airport's masterplan, published in 2006, has the potential to provide a huge boost for the economy. A spokesman said that the expansion is ‘critical’ in helping the Capital's financial services sector weather the recession.
