Morgan Est to carry out runway project
02.02.08
Infrastructure company Morgan Est plc has been confirmed as the winner of a £12 million contract to resurface the main runway at Edinburgh Airport. The project will see its specialist paving team lay 25,000 tonnes of asphalt and replace 1000 runway lights.
Morgan Est managing director for infrastructure, Jag Paddam, said: 'Our paving team are looking forward to starting work on such an important project. We are currently carrying out a £5 million scheme to provide three new aircraft stands at Edinburgh Airport, and this latest contract win further strengthens our presence in the air sector.'
While work is being carried out each night - from late March until November - flights taking off or landing at night will use the second runway. As previously reported, this will affect the night time noise experienced by local residents.
