Flybe plane hit by lightening
01.06.10
Passengers flying from Birmingham to Edinburgh Airport had a scare last week after their plane was struck by lightning, the Evening News reports. The Flybe plane was on its final descent in to Edinburgh when it was struck.
Passengers reported hearing a loud crack and saw a bolt of lightning strike the plane, causing it to lift and tilt to the side. Some travellers on the flight from Birmingham last Wednesday were screaming, the newspaper adds.
A spokesman for Flybe confirmed that the flight suffered a lightning strike, but added: ‘The incidence of lightning is a relatively common in-flight weather occurrence.’
